The Red Party thrives on one simple concept: performance. Too often the great works of art we encounter, whether painting, film, music, or writing, are completely detached from the artists which have created them. The Red Party is an attempt to reconnect the artists with their audience, and to introduce the audience the artists they may know only on paper. So, instead of the usual gallery way, where works of art are displayed on walls and artists sit smugly in the corner reveling in anonymity, The Red Party has painters painting live, showcasing their craft directly, for all to see and enjoy. And, instead of the usual musical performance way, where musicians come play a set and promptly start packing up their gear and heading out, the musicians of The Red Party stay to support not only the other musicians but the painters and the audience. What good is an artists' community, after all, if it's just a bunch of smug hipster assholes who don't know a meaningful conversation from a strategically-placed hole in their sophomorically ironic t-shirt? So, come hang out, see some great live painting, some great live music, and get a chance to talk to the artists and other patrons about what's on their mind. See you all soon.
